The USNS Cody is a non-combatant vessel of the United States Navy. It is a Military Sealift Command (MSC) Airborne Mission Control Center (AMCC) ship that provides operational support for military intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and communications missions. The USNS Cody is designed to support aircraft operations by acting as a control tower in the sky, enabling the crew to direct aircraft remotely. The ship is named after Corporal Duane D. A. Cody, a U.S. Marine who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during the Vietnam War. The USNS Cody was christened in 1993 and continues to serve the Navy to this day, supporting missions around the world.
